Isn’t “Ren” Kevin Bacon’s character’s name in Footloose? And didn’t he jam to The Clash? I’m not sure about this second point, but he definitely rocked to something at the beginning of that movie, before they wheeled out Kenny Loggins.

Maybe your Ren just wants to dance. Don’t get in his way.

Sounds like you need to do what my dad did and force the boy to listen to Led Zeppelin and let nature take it’s course. I still love a little Zeppelin from time to time so it definately had an influence on my music choices throughout my childhood.

I’ve never been one for The Clash or any other form of punk rock so I understand the boy’s comments. He just needs to listen to KGON and avoid all Z100 and Hip Hop type radio stations. He needs to be able to differentiate between good music and bad music and he’ll find what he likes eventually.
