Ink

Posted by: Justin In: Big. Fat. Nerd.

Unlike the rest of the world, I saw The Dark Knight this weekend.  Good stuff.  Worth the price of admission just to see The Joker’s little magic trick…

But I don’t feel like writing about that.  Plenty of Baturation of the interwebs already.  Wouldn’t want to add to that.

Even though the movie was really good, and I love talking about it in that giddy, nerdy way dorks like me love talking about all comic book movies.

That same way I’ll want to talk about the Watchmen movie* when if finally hits theaters next year.

But for today, I just don’t feel like writing much.  Not even about a fantastic comic book movie.

Or monkeys.  Or midgets.

Or tatoos of monkeys on the bellies of idiots who could possibly turn out to be midgets.

*OK, I do wanna talk about this a little…  Watchmen will kick of the ass.  I’m sure of it.  All they have to do is remain relatively true to the source material and it’ll be fantastic.

Only thing that scares me is that, if you go to the website, you’ll notice that they don’t seem to mention Alan Moore’s name anywhere, not even when talking about the graphic novel.  I understand there are some disputes about who owns the rights to the story, but shouldn’t they at least acknowledge the man who wrote the bloody thing?! Dumb.

I’m trying to get my hands on the Watchmen so I can read it before I see the movie, but every fucking store here is sold out of it. I will find it though!

Watchmen. Man. I dunno. I don’t want to get my hopes up.

The trailer kicked all sorts of booty, but the teenage know-it-all who talked through all the trailers kept referring to “Owl-Man” and I almost lost it.

I did lose it when the trailer for the Latest Keanu Reeves Abomination came up and the teenage know-it-all explained to his companion that Keanu was ‘an angel come to save earth’.

Have to agree with my Mrs. about the Watchmen trailer. It gets me excited as a fan of the book and all around dork, but if I watched it as someone unfamiliar with the story, I’d either be scratching my head or yawning.

I mean, you have this ass kicking story to share, but the vast majority of the world knows nothing about it or your characters. Hard to get them into it with a trailer that just shows random flashes of unknown costumed heroes being all spandexy in slow motion to a Smashing Pumpkins tune. Stylistically, it looks great, but it’s gonna take more than that to win over more of an audience.

And I would have beaten “Owl-Man” kid.

  • Arjewtino: I like how calm she sounds. That would just put me back to sleep.
  • mickey: It's great they sound an alarm but they don't yet know what for. Is this some new post-9/11 shit I haven't heard about? The terrorists have already
  • Maggie: Good god I hate Vegas - for so many reasons you've already covered. But I love The Wire and think perhaps it should elevate your category from "crap
